Detailed directions : Start your hike at the Manzanita point road near the Henry Coe state park visitor center, click here to see the location in Google maps. Continue on Manzanita point road for about 500 ft until you reach Monument trail.

Monument trail is very steep and after 0.5 miles joins the Hobbs road, make a left there.

Parts of the hike are steep so I wouldn't recommend this if you are in bad shape. However this hike is doable even by beginner hikers though you might find it challenging.

Once you are on Hobbs road you will see ponderosa pine trees. If you pay attention you can see shiny metal domes that house telescopes on Mt.Hamilton to your left.

About 0.75 miles from the Monument trail/Hobbs road junction you will cross the Coyote creek and see the Frog lake trail sign as shown in the picture.

Take the Frog Lake trail and you will reach the lake in less than a quarter mile. At the Hobbs road/Frog lake trail intersection if you are lucky you can even see some tadpoles swimming in the small water stream/puddle. This is a good choice for a hike with a total of 3.2 miles roundtrip and decent views.
