Detailed directions : Park your car in the Chantry Flats parking lot or on the side of the street if the lot is full. You will need to display a 'National park adventure' pass or buy a $5 pass in the parking lot once you park. If you park on the street watching for signs that say 'Falling rocks'. Its very hard to find parking here unless you reach early, so its highly recommended to carpool.
Trailhead is behind the restrooms in the parking lot. Walk down the paved road and follow signs for 'Hermit Falls' like this one.
As you walk down the paved road be on the look out for this sign that shows 'Hermit Falls' directions to the right. Once you pass this sign if you look down to you left you can see and hear water flowing.
After a few minutes down this gentle sloped trail you will reach a few switchbacks. Be a responsible hiker and do not cut through switchbacks as it is bad for the vegetation that grows there.
As you continue on the trail you will see another 'Hermit falls' sign cautioning against campfires. At this point you can even see some cabins below to your left.
Once you are past the cabins you will get to have some boulder-hopping fun to cross streams. It's a nice quiet place to sit and meditate. This fresh flowing water is cold and tastes good. You then pass through an area with lots of trees, plenty of shade and water.
Many people mistake the last dam to be the final waterfalls but keep following the trail until you reach the waterfalls, it is totally worth it!
There are a variety of flowers with bright colors and different shapes and are definitely a treat to your eyes and soul.
I hope you hike this trail the next chance you get and fall in love with hiking. Remember us 'HikeForFunandFitness.com' and spread the word!
